A Berry Happy 1st Birthday

We celebrated Stella's 1st birthday in April. The theme was inspired by non other than Little Miss Strawberry Shortcake. "Vintage" Strawberry Shortcake that is! The one I grew up loving. There were all sorts of strawberry inspired sweets! The main dessert (rather than birthday cake) was make-your-own mini strawberry shortcake. It was a hit.

We had a casual meal of grilled burgers and hot dogs.

She was a FAN of her very own birthday cake... to say the least!

Yes... we worked on Stella as the "Y" for a while... but it just wasn't happening! So, this is what her thank you cards ended up looking like! :-)

STELLA MCLAIN PRYOR'S NURSERY

These are photos of Stella's nursery!! Our little bundle is due tomorrow... that's right TOMORROW! So, here I am at home wwaaiittiinngg and posting on my blog after FAR TOO LONG of neglecting it!

Above is a dresser that I painted, distresses, glazed, and put new (adorable) glass knobs on. As you can see, it is going to serve as Stella's changing table.

I snagged this vintage door at a local flea market. The chair belonged to my grandfather's mother! It is one of my most prized processions! I'll talk more about the crib below

As you can see, I love all things vintage and I went that direction with the nursery. This lamp was given to me by my husband's grandmother. It's over 80 years old! I actually have a set of 2.
Initially I was going to go ALL classic "Shabby Chic" (you know, white washed furniture, tiny floral prints, etc)... but as I searched for fabrics I ended up going much more vintage than actual S.C. I'm happy with the result.

All of the furniture in the room was painted and distressed (like I mentioned before)... even the crib. As you can see it's all pale green and the walls are a very very pale peach color.

The bedding, chair cushions, and drapes were all custom made by my sister-in-law's mother, Emmilea Riggs of Kennett, MO... SHE'S AMAZING!!

The patterns I used are a very eclectic mix. There's a floral print, a muted cheetah print, a striped linen, and a peach spotted fabric. I was nervous about the mix but I do LOVE how it came out. The feeling is very calming and not too loud. I hope it's a calm and soothing place for Stella. I know I love going in to the room!

BOY... how things have changed!

Keep this example in mind... It's a good look at what I'm talking about! :-)

OK... It has been quit some time since my last post… and BOY HAVE THINGS CHANGED IN MY LIFE! My husband and I recently found out that we are expecting our first child in April, 2010! So, as you can imagine, my interest in adorable children’s clothing has become even more intense! Also, I have become increasingly interested in stylish maternity clothes… after all, every Posh Peanut deserves to have a Posh Momma! ENJOY!

Today’s Feature: BOOTS (to be paired with tights & leggings) … MUST HAVE LADIES!

First of all mommas…if you happen to be pregnant in a state where Fall and Winter are approaching, you need to GET SOME BOOTS. You may loose your figure, but you don’t have to lose your style! Slouchy boot, ankle boots, flats, hills, etc, etc! I suggest some of the styles below.

First of all... Grab yourself a pair of UGG boots... you're gonna love the comfort they offer and they're pretty cute with leggings! Plus, they feel like a house shoe but are socially acceptable to wear in public. PERFECT.
Here is an example of slouch boots. Very in style and they look great with leggings of tights! Also, you can throw them over your skinny-legged jeans. All of the following boots were found at
http://www.victoriassecret.com/

These are great basics with a small hill.

FLATS ARE A MUST! This is such a comfortable and cute version of a knee boot.

Below are what I like to call "booties", AKA: ankle boots. Also adorable with opaque tights!

BellaBlu Designs

Wow… It has been a while since I have posted! It’s been a busy last couple of weeks. But, I just had to get on today and post a new favorite find that I ran across. Check it out!

Let me introduce BellaBlu Designs!
The maker is happy to mix & match dog breeds and fabrics, so if you order, let the designer know if you'd prefer a different breed on anything. She accepts custom orders! I LOVE customizables! Yay!
I found BellaBlu on www.etsy.com. BellaBlu offers hand decorated onsies, bibs, burp clothes and invitations! Mostly inspired by puppy dogs and kitty cats. I LOVE the graphic modern inspiration. Check out the website by clicking here.

I think this is a really cute Lab outfit with a matching burp clothe! Loves it. :-)

Baby Boys

I feel that I have neglected boy's clothing in my first few posts... it is so easy to get caught up in all of the frills that come along with dressing little girls... but let us not forget that little boys are a gift from heaven and their clothes are ADORABLE and stylish as well!
I found some of the cutest clothes on this website; http://www.littleboychic.com/. I put some of my favorites from the site below.
This is for your little hippy... I thought it was kind of fun!

Basic big stripes are always a classically cute look.

Little boys LOVE scary pirates and I think this T-shirt looks vintage and cool.

For your little tourist! :-)

Love these bamboo printed lounge pants

I have a thing for baby goats... so I fell in love with this goat themed outfit.
Check on "Meeeh" on the leg. Too cute!

I like the simplicity of this T-shirt with a picture of a firefly in a jar!
It just screams childhood fun.

Now this is stylish! Aviator sunglasses and all :-)

I love that this site is dedicated to Little Boys only! It's one of my new favorites! Plus, most of the items on the site are VERY reasonably priced. Unique and priced right? What a concept.
I LOVE THAT!
